Hospital workers to receive wage hike
AT least 174 employees at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) in Angeles City are set to receive a salary increase, according to an order from the city government.Memorandum Order 253 provides that medical practitioners at the RLMMC will receive an additional pay ranging from P4,000 to P8,000 per month while non-medical workers will take home an additional P50 salary per day beginning February 16.Personnel who will benefit from the wage hike include six radiologic technologists who will receive an additional P8,000; seven pharmacists who will get P5,150 more; and 26 medical technologists who will get a P4,000 increase.Those who will receive additional P150 per day include 92 administrative employees, 30 housekeeping personnel and 13 utility staff.In a statement, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said the increase in the salary of RLMMC workers is the city government's way of recognizing them for providing quality health care and for attending to Covid-19 patients at the height of the pandemic."This is just one way to recognize the hard work of our RLMMC government employees, who provided service with a heart to our kababayan during the height of the pandemic. They exhausted all resources to give utmost health services to the patients — may it be for Covid-19 patients and other patients' health cases," Lazatin said.For his part, RLMMC Chief of Hospital Froilan Canlas expressed appreciation to the city government for the recognition and the salary increase."This is also in preparation for the expansion that we are doing so that the wages of our personnel will be more competitive," he added.Aside from the wage hike, the city government has added five dialysis machines at the RLMMC Renal Care Unit.The city government is also getting ready for the opening phase of the soon-to-rise RLMMC Annex Building in Barangay Pampang. The new facility is expected to be inaugurated this year.
